So while Bellhop’s use of dedicated trucks inflates its long-distance prices, it makes your stuff safer and helps it arrive quicker.
The risk is low, but there’s always the possibility that your belongings might get mixed with-or damaged by-another customer’s boxes or furniture en route. The delivery crew makes stops to pick up and drop off other people’s belongings, so your move can take longer. And while this practice does make your move cheaper, there are two significant drawbacks to splitting loads: Many long-distance moving companies split loads between various customers along the same routes to keep costs low. This means that when you move with Bellhop, your stuff will be the only load in your Bellhop truck(s). But there’s actually a good reason for Bellhop’s high long-distance prices: Bellhop doesn’t split loads. This makes Bellhop’s long-distance prices a little high, like we said. Long-distance moves generally cost $2,000–$12,000, though higher prices aren’t unheard of. While this unfortunately means more work for you, it will save time-i.e., money-on moving day. And since the company doesn’t offer packing services, you’ll pack everything before your movers arrive. So if the local moves we requested quotes for only took three to eight hours, Bellhop’s quotes would be on par. Typically, local moves cost between $550 and $2,000. To give you a rough idea of how much moving with Bellhop can cost, we got a few over-the-phone quotes. Typical pricing factors like when you move, fuel costs, location, when you book, and what moving supplies you need can also influence Bellhop’s prices. If you hire Bellhop for moving labor around your house-help staging your home, for example-or to load a truck you’ve rented separately, the company has a two-hour minimum for these jobs. For moves over 50 miles-what the company calls long-distance moves -it uses a flat-rate pricing model, which is based on how many movers and trucks your move requires.Īdditionally, Bellhop has a three-hour minimum for local moving jobs, so even if your move only goes an hour or two, you’ll pay for three hours. We’ll take a higher cost that’s reliable over a low quote that’s subject to change any day.īellhop has two pricing models, one for local moves and one for long-distance moves.įor local moves-which the company defines as moves under 50 miles-and moving labor, Bellhop charges an hourly rate. This makes its pricing more reliable than companies that advertise low prices and then add extra costs on moving day. There’s an upside, though: the company offers binding estimates. Im not the type of person to write reviews, but just wanted to let other people know so that they could avoid the catastrophe that happened to me.Bellhop’s prices run a smidge higher than average, especially for long-distance jobs. You could run the risk of being out of movers last minute. WORST COMPANY, DO NOT TRUST THEM TO BE THERE FOR YOUR MOVE. I was on a tight schedule and was moving cross country. I receive a call at 14:03 (3 minutes after scheduled moving time) that the other mover isn’t able to make it and couldn’t send a replacement and the one mover that was in front of my house couldn’t come back because they had other “arrangements.” They said the next scheduled appointment would be the next day in the afternoon.
While one of the movers pulled up in front of my house, they stayed in their car for a few minutes then drove off. One of the movers even called me 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time to tell me they are on their way. Worst company ever! I had scheduled movers weeks in advance.
Tread lightly if you’re using this company.ĭo NOT use this company. And as a worker here, remember that they don’t care about your well being and deem you as expendable, had a friend go missing and told my company I couldn’t make it to a job because I was going to go find him, and they tried to permanently suspend me because they “didn’t see my messages beforehand”. Lastly if you’re a customer, I would highly suggest making sure you don’t hire this place if your apartment is going anywhere outside of the city you are in. Only for them to finally call you back with no type of useful information. You’ll need help with something as a mover or a customer and will be on hold with someone for HOURS. On top of this the management and customer service is horrible. They have no regard for your items and if they do it’s situational.
These are usually just young college students or people looking for a quick buck. As a worker of this company I can speak from experience that most of the people on the platform should not be handling your furniture. Never been more annoyed working for a company then this one.
